Antonia

Marleen Gorris

As morning breaks over the last day of her life, Antonia's thoughts travel back to the day soon after the second world war when she returned to her native village which she left as a young girl.
Her memories , interwoven with the voice of her great-grand daughter Sarah, unroll a tapestry of almost fifty years in which village life, her close friends, her enemies, her family, and of course Antonia herself are portrayed.
For 88 years, Antonia embraced life like a welcome guest. She will die surrounded by those she cherished the most, in the full knowledge that as this long chronicle draws to a close, nothing has come to an end.
